The assembly election results for Uttar Pradesh(UP) ,largest state in India were surprising to say the least. Never in the past has any single party secured a similar mandate. UP with a population of around 220 million is as big as the whole of United States. It has 403 constituencies each having its own demographic breakup. The election was conducted in 7 phases.
